David Cairns to Resign?

Interesting story on BBC online which states that according to Number 10 David Cairns has not resigned...I wasn`t aware that there was a suggestion he had!

I had a wee scoot over to Iain Dale’s Diary, home of Westminster gossip, and sure enough there has been a
post suggesting that Cairns was about to walk. If Cairns were to go he’d be the highest profile MP to walk or be sacked in recent days – all with the intention of getting rid of the clunking fist.

Over on Guido Fawkes there is a suggestion that as many as 60 Labour MPs are now on the brink of rebellion and are looking for a senior member, basically a member of the Cabinet.

Earlier today there was just the suggestion that a Minister of State was to resign and the following quote was attributed to them -
“There just comes a point where you say, 'I can't go on lying', you can't go on saying 'I think Gordon Brown is the man to lead us to victory' when you don't believe it.”

The Telegraph were, according to Dale, the paper which pointed the finger at Cairns. Nick Robinson of the BBC has also been following the tale and it now seems that sources close to Des Browne are saying that Cairns is going nowhere.

A storm in a teacup? Only time will tell.
