Bill Butler…
Bill Butler has been touted as the potential challenger of Wendy Alexander to represent the left of the Labour party and to provide a contest.
Butler first came to parliament in 2000 in the Anniesland by-election following the death of Donald Dewar. Butler has been fairly nondescript in parliament and short of bringing forward a members bill for elected Health boards he hasn’t been that dynamic.
The Campaign for Socialism have 5 MSPs as members, including Butler, but would require one more MSP supporter to get Butler to the starting gate. Butler is a Partick Thistle supporter...so he clearly has questionable judgment.
