Someone should tell Jack there is an Election on

Earlier in the month I observed that there had been no sign of Scottish Labour leader Jack McConnell in a head to head debates with SNP leader Alex Salmond.

Tonight’s edition of the BBC programme Question Time is the most recent opportunity for Jack McConnell to debate with Alex Salmond.
Other than Labour the rest of tonight’s politicians on the panel are party leaders - Nicol Stephen as leader of the Scottish Lib Dems and Annabelle Goldie as the leader of the Scottish Tories. Labour will be represented by Lothian list candidate Baron Foulkes.

When Henry McLeish was First Minister he went on the programme to debate with Alex Salmond, so why is Jack shying away from the challenge? It’s not clear whether Jack is ducking the debate himself or if those in control of the Labour campaign don`t think he’s up to it.

Perhaps Baron Foulkes is going on as the leader of the Scottish Labour Party after May’s elections?
